Alternative Spring Break

Alternative Spring Break (ASB) trips are multi-day community engagement trips designed to teach students about social issues and position them to get more deeply involved in problem-solving. Each ASB trip is organized and led by a student trip leader, and features a UMBC faculty or staff learning partner. Campus Life is focused on fostering long term community engagement and, therefore, all trips take place in the Baltimore area. This program, built around service-learning, critical thinking and reflection, empowers students to create change and to engage and help educate their peers. Participants find the experience inspiring, educational, and fun!
